Exhibition of Polish photographer Roman Hryciów inspired by a residency in Humenné and travels around the world on the occasion of the Polish Capital of Culture 2026 project.

The city of Bielsko-Biała will become the Polish Capital of Culture in 2026. On this occasion, the Polish Institute in Bratislava, in cooperation with the Biała Gallery BWA, the Bielsko-Biała City Hall and the Bielsko-Biała Historical Museum, has prepared a project building on the artistic and historical ties of the region with Slovakia.

It includes an exhibition Meeting by Polish photographer Roman Hryciów, which presents a selection of portraits from the author's retrospective exhibition Light-sensitive gaze. Roman Hryciów – 50 years of photography. Visitors will see portraits of miners, artists and children from Nepal, India and Pakistan, as well as photographs from the author's travels. They are united by a sensitive view of people and the ability to discover beauty in everyday life. The exhibition is curated by Krzysztof Morcinek from the Białystok BWA Gallery.

The project also commemorates the legacy of the Slovak painter Peter Michal Bohúň, who worked in Bielsko-Biała in the 19th century.
