A date with the city: Villas of the First Republic

The beginning: 12. 9. 2026 | 14:00 h

The place: at the JLBella monument (intersection of Šulekova Street with Novosvetská and Timravina Streets)

Address: Sulekova 1169/7, Bratislava

After the establishment of the 1st Czechoslovakia and the establishment of Bratislava as the capital of Slovakia, luxury villas were built near Bratislava's Palisades for solvent entrepreneurs, merchants, lawyers and public officials of the new republic. The natural flourishing of community life in this neighborhood was disrupted by World War II, which in many cases tragically affected the lives of residents and the creators of these villas. On the walk, we will introduce some of them. In particular, the works of Friedrich Weinwurm, Ignác Vécsei, Dušan Jurkovič and Desidero Quastler, but also the fates of residents associated with them.

Accompanied by: Nikola Bakardžiev

The capacity of the walk is limited. Tickets can be purchased via the platform tootoot.fm until sold out.

Duration of the walk: 90 – 120 min.
The walking route is barrier-free.
Overview of the walking route: Šulekova – Timravina – Godrova – Porubský – Maróty – Kuzmány – Somolický – Lermontov – Podtatranský – Frano Kráľa – Pushkinov
