A date with the city for the Deaf: Carnival in Bratislava

The beginning: 7. 2. 2026 | 10:00 h

The place: in the reservation form

Address: Old Town, Bratislava

Organizer: Bratislava Cultural and Information Center

The walk will be interpreted into Slovak Sign Language and is primarily intended for the Deaf.

Carnival is all about having fun, so this tour will be mainly about having fun. And besides that, we'll talk a lot about our history, sing, and taste something typical of Carnival. Because Carnival is also about feasting and good food.

  • We will talk about where these celebrations come from, how they are related to nature, folk customs, and Christianity in our region.
  • Carnival parades were not lacking in any city. What did such traditional masks look like? What characters appeared in the parade?
  • How were the carnivals of the upper class different from the village dances where ordinary people had fun?
  • Where were balls usually held and how did the participants prepare for such a masquerade ball?

It will be very diverse, just like the program during this day in the city, so we hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are.

Accompanied by: Andrea Turanská

Group capacity is limited. Register your participation via the online form and you will receive a confirmation and information about the starting point of the tour by email.
