Bratislava Summer University for Seniors – Kráľovský Prešporok

A date with the city as part of the Bratislava Summer University for Seniors.

In our city we can find many places connected with the history of kings and queens. Already in the 11th century the castle became a royal residence. It was also the witness of a magnificent royal wedding. St. Martin's Cathedral hosted many coronations. In the Franciscan Church, monarchs knighted. In the Franciscan Monastery, the king was even elected. We will also show you places connected with royal visits from ancient and recent times.  

Three interesting places on the route: 

Statue of Elizabeth of Hungary in the courtyard of the Provost Palace (Kapitulská Street 19), Marian Column on Františkánske Square, Maximilian/Roland Fountain on Hlavné Square  

Route: Primatial Square, Uršulínska Square, Franciscan Square, Main Square, Sedlárska Square, Farská Square, Kapitulská Square, Hviezdoslavovo Square, Fisherman's Gate. 

The route is barrier-free, except for the stairs on Rudnay Square.

Event interpreted into Slovak Sign Language.

Martin Zani is a Bratislava native, guide and lecturer. He regularly organizes historical walks for Bratislava residents. He is one of the voices of the podcast Rande s mestom, where he introduces listeners to historical events and anniversaries related to Bratislava. He is also one of the regular guides in the series of thematic tours Rande s mestom, as well as the author of historical quizzes presented as part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer festival.  

Free admission. For capacity reasons, it is free registration required, which will be launched on July 14, 2025.
