Address: Jakubovo námestie 12, Bratislava

Exhibition Tender '89… the revolution that began in the theater was created on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the democratic change in our society, of which theatre people became direct actors. Actors, actresses, directors and playwrights accepted the challenge of the striking students, got involved in political events and became one of the significant groups that influenced the course of the largest political and social event in the former Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. Their stage experience helped them to clearly interpret the slogans and ideas of the time during demonstrations or discussions, and their general popularity gave their words weight. In the first days, actors and actresses replaced the silent media and were able to formulate the demands of the demonstrators forcefully, clearly and with emotion.

Exhibition Tender '89… the revolution that began in the theater reflects the pivotal days and weeks that led to the end of the communist dictatorship and the establishment of democracy in Czechoslovakia. The exhibition includes period materials and photographs from archives and theaters. The exhibition maps not only the atmosphere in the squares, but also the most important productions of that time, which in many ways foreshadowed the course of the November revolutionary days.
