Let's remember: Anniversary of the death of Marián Varga

August 9, 2025, Freedom Square

The fountain will play with colors

The iconic Družba Fountain came alive with colors and sounds of music during a commemorative event with an artistic legacy.

After sunset, Freedom Square turned into a place filled with music with the impressive music of Marián Varga and Collegium musicum - the composition Music for the Fountain.

The song was played 4 times in 30-minute intervals and the Druzhba fountain lit up in the colors of the music, creating an unforgettable visual and audio moment.

The event commemorated the eighth anniversary of the death of Marián Varga, a prominent musician inextricably linked to Bratislava, whose work has long since crossed the borders of Slovakia.

With speeches Katarína Hulíková, director of BKIS, and Peter Uličný, writer, lyricist, author of the book “Marián Varga – On the Roads That Do Not Lead to Rome,” spoke. The guest of honor at the event was Jana Vargová, wife of Marián Varga.
