A date with the city: Jewish architects – co-creators of modern architecture around SNP Square

Like pearls on a necklace, the works of talented Jewish architects of the interwar period adorn the SNP Square and its surroundings. They are proof of the amazing cultural diversity and tolerance of the city of Bratislava at a time when neighboring states were gradually becoming totalitarian. Unfortunately, most of these co-creators of the appearance of our present-day Bratislava tragically died, were murdered or had to emigrate as a result of persecution by the Slovak State/Slovak Republic and the Greater German Reich. Today, it is important to remember their fates and work and to realize what can happen again if we do not stand up for the preservation of freedom and democracy in a timely and decisive manner.
