We invite you to a tour of the history of shopping in Bratislava. Bratislava was founded at the crossroads of trade routes. Fairs, markets and trading form an important part of the city's history. 680 years ago, Bratislava received its first privilege to hold a fair under the protection of the king. Since then, fairs have been held every year.
And gradually, more and more often. Later, food markets were also added.
Sellers from foreign countries and buyers from all over the surrounding area came to the city,
and also comedians and thieves. In the 20th century, they built covered markets and department stores
with an elevator and self-service. Since the end of the 20th century, Christmas markets have also been held here. The tour takes place in the vicinity of the just opened Christmas Markets 2022. Guide Katarína Králiková and sign language interpreter Dávid Marko are looking forward to telling you more about it all.
