A date with the city: Bratislava's 20th-century department stores

The first department stores appeared in Bratislava less than 100 years ago and immediately became a phenomenon - the opening of some even caused a sensation. No wonder, because under one roof they offered previously unseen shopping opportunities. In addition, they also represented high-quality and timeless architecture of their time and brought several technical innovations to the city. Together we will reveal where the first department store in the city was located, which department store had the first escalators in Slovakia, or which, like the first one, was open for shopping on Sundays. Of course, we will also take a closer look at their current or planned use.
