Tourist guide course

How is the teaching going?

Lectures are held at regular weekly intervals.
They include excursions to key sites (churches, galleries, museums, etc.), as well as bus tours (e.g. the Little Carpathian Wine Route).
The culmination of the course are the final exams, and after their successful completion, a ceremonial presentation of certificates follows at the Poor Clares Church.

Who will guide you through the course?

The course is guided by renowned experts and lovers of our Bratislava. Its expert guarantor is Jan Vyhnánek.The teaching staff also includes: Helena Navrátilová, Zsolt Lehel, Zuzana Tomčániová, Dagmar Gubová, Martin Záni, Andrea Turanská, Katarína Králiková and Monika Štefunková.

Conditions for participating in the course

Completed secondary education. Understanding of the Slovak language in written and oral form, as the course teaching and final exams are conducted only in the Slovak language.

The course activities are governed by the valid accreditation study regulations, which is valid from 4. 11. 2025

How much does the course cost?

The course price is €800, a 10% discount is available for students, seniors, persons with a disability card and employees of the Capital City of the Slovak Republic Bratislava. The course fee can be paid either in one lump sum or in two installments. More information about the discount can be found in point 1.11 of the Study Regulations.

The result

A successful graduate of the course will become a specialist in the history and monuments of Bratislava. He/she will gain knowledge about the history, architecture, monuments and current events in Bratislava and its surroundings, in the Slovak and global context, about the methodology and techniques of guiding activities with a connection to the specific territory of Bratislava and its surroundings, as well as knowledge about tourism as a sector of the economy, about the commercial and legal aspects of the profession of a tourist guide and knowledge of professional terminology in this area. He/she will be able to practically use the acquired knowledge when guiding, which, however, does not have to be limited to our capital city, because he/she will acquire a certificate of a guide with nationwide validity.
