Bratislava Carnival without barriers

Bratislava Carnival takes place on Saturday, February 7th from 9:00 AM to 22:00 PM on the Main Square and its surroundings. The event is barrier-free. The big carnival parade through the city starts from the Main Square at 17:00 PM..

Transport info

BBD: The event takes place in the city center, within walking distance of the bus stop. CentrumYou can get here by tram. 1, 3 a 4.

By car: Paid parking is available at the parking lot on Kamenné námestie or in the underground garage on Uršulínska Street.

Event locations

Hlavné námestie

The stage is located near the Old Town Hall, facing the Roland Fountain. In the middle of the square by the fountain, there is a sound control room. There are 200 chairs between the sound control room and the stage. If you stand in front of the sound control room facing the stage, there are food trucks with food and drinks on your left and right. There are 4 on each side. In front of the food trucks are high tables, 10 on one side and 10 on the other. Behind the food trucks on the left side farthest from the stage is a sorting station. Trained staff will be happy to help you sort your waste correctly.

Please note that if you enter the Main Square from the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, you will come to the back of the stage, which is separated by barriers. Just follow them. The barriers line the entire area around the stage.  

The program on the Main Square starts at 9:00. You can expect Radio Junior, folklore performances, dance workshops, an introduction to international carnival customs, and at 16:30 a meeting before the Great Carnival Parade through the city, which starts at 17:00. The evening carnival festivities will start at 18:00 with folk music by the group Muzička, the mask competition continues at 19:00, at 19:30 the Sendreiovci will perform on stage, and at 20:30 the Duo SlaNina will start.

Franciscan Square

In the middle of Františkánske námestie there is a tent where workshops are held. The tent is open from the side of the Main Square. There are 6 anchoring concrete cubes placed around its perimeter, watch out for them. There is seating inside on the side.

The program at Franciscan Square takes place from 10:00 to 15:00. We especially invite you to circus games for people with special needs. DiversAbility Circus at 12:00. Due to capacity reasons, this workshop requires free registration.

Courtyard of the Old Town Hall

If you enter the courtyard of the Old Town Hall through the gate from Primatial Square, the stage is located immediately to the right. There is seating in front of it. The program in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall will especially please the youngest spectators - two theater performances await you at 9:30 and 11:30. At 13:00 p.m., a gospel singing workshop is prepared.

Big carnival parade

If you want to join the parade, come to the Main Square at 16:30 p.m. The chairs will be folded up by then and there will be an open area in front of the stage. Before the parade, you can look forward to the ritual revival of the White Snake, who, as the Snake Guardian of the city, will stand at the head of the Great Carnival Parade. The parade itself is scheduled to start at 17:00. It will be accompanied by a presenter and a drum show. A musical program will be held at various locations through which the procession passes.

Route: The procession will pass from the Main Square through the Fisherman's Gate to the beginning of Hviezdoslav Square, where you have the historic SND building behind you. It continues through Hviezdoslav Square, turns right onto Strakova Street. It continues along Ventúrska and Michalska Streets to the Michalska Gate. The procession then passes through the SNP Square and continues along Uršulínska Street to the Primaciální Square, from where it returns to its start - the Main Square.

Toilets

In the back of Františkánske námestie behind the fountain of the woman with a jug there are 4 mobile toilets. On the left 3 unisex (common for women and men) and on the far right 1 wheelchair accessible toilet. The wheelchair accessible toilet is locked due to the nature of the event. You can get the code to open it by calling our colleague Katka's phone number - 0948 218 501.

Or you can use the public toilets on Uršulínska Street opposite the entrance to the underground garage. They are free and wheelchair accessible. They are reached by a path with small paving stones from Primatial Square.

Our recommendations

If you need help, do not hesitate to contact someone from the organizational team, temporary workers or the staff at the sorting stations. You can recognize the temporary workers by their reflective green vests. Rescue services - medical, fire service and police - will be on site throughout the event.
