Bratislava Cultural and Information Center

We are a municipal contributory organization that was established in 2004 by merging the Municipal Cultural Center, Park of Culture and Recreation, and Bratislava Information Service.

Our mission is to improve cultural life in the capital by organizing and systematically supporting cultural and social events available to the general public throughout Bratislava.

We build on the values ​​of transparency, diversity and mutual respect. We are guided by the principles of professionalism, sustainability, decentralization and inclusion.

We conduct our activities in accordance with the principles of political neutrality, impartiality and equal access to all subjects of public and social life. For these reasons, we do not support events organized by political parties or movements, nor activities that could be perceived as direct or indirect support for a specific political entity, candidate or political campaign.

We support actors from both established culture (city organizations, city districts) and non-established culture (individuals, civic associations, non-profit organizations, informal initiatives) through a transparent system Support program throughout the capital of the Slovak Republic. The aim of the BKIS Support Program is to make it easier for applicants to organize cultural and community events in Bratislava.

We educate guides in Bratislava through a course BKIS Tourism Guide with accreditation from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic.

In cooperation with guides, we organize a year-round cycle of thematic walks A date with the city. A diverse range of topics and their high-quality presentation teach visitors to discover the city from new perspectives. The cycle also includes walks for Ukrainian families with children, for the deaf, blind and physically challenged.

We increase the accessibility of culture in the city for all residents through decentralization and support for local projects, established and non-established culture, community events, and civic activities in cooperation with city districts.

We prepare events for all age groups. We adapt cultural events and activities to the special needs of groups of residents with various disabilities.

We operate and improve the premises that the capital of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, has entrusted to the management of BKIS - Klariska Concert Hall, House of Music, Biela 6, Cultural scene in Janko Kráľa Park. Premises we rent or we offer within a transparent system Support Programme for organizing cultural and community events.

We also use the premises for cultural events organized by BKIS.

In 2024, BKIS became a new member of the prestigious European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC). This membership is a significant step for us in our efforts to strengthen international ties, exchange best practices, and promote cultural diversity and inclusion.

In March 2024, it was approved our signatory status in the Diversity Charter Slovakia its Advisory Board. The ceremonial welcoming of the new signatories will take place during Diversity Day on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in Bratislava, when BKIS will also officially join this initiative. With this step, we have confirmed our strong commitment to supporting inclusion, diversity and equality in the workplace and in society as a whole.
