A Date with the City: The Transition from Manufactory to Industrial Enterprises

The abolition of serfdom in 1848 allowed the population of Prešpork to seek a living in the newly established manufactories. The development of railway and shipping strengthened the position of the city in the region and enabled a direct connection with Vienna. With the gradual electrification and introduction of machines into production, family businesses slowly but surely became the first factories in Prešpork.
During the tour, you will learn about the circumstances that led to the transformation of Prešporek into a city of industry, as well as the stories of selected successful businesses.
