Date with the city: Freedom Square

The current appearance of Freedom Square is largely the result of 20th-century architectural trends. The monumental structures of the Postal Palace, the STU university buildings surrounding the reopened Družba fountain, and the former Klement Gottwald sculptural group complement the historic Government Office building on the north side of the square.
But what was the Government Office building originally used for? What happened to the monumental sculpture group? And where does the old name of the square, Firšnál or Sahara, come from? You will also learn this during a tour of Freedom Square.
