The first Catholic religious orders were established in Prešporek even before the town gained town privileges. The religious brothers and sisters, according to the focus of the order, devoted themselves to educating the youth or treating the sick with herbs grown in the monastery garden. Others rescued prisoners of war or cared for orphans. Libraries and scriptoria were established in the monasteries, the religious founded musical societies and sometimes even helped elect a monarch. Most of the orders went through times that were not favorable to them and also built their buildings in the town with great difficulty. You can learn about the ups and downs they experienced and how they overcame them on a Saturday walk.
