Taxi

More than 15 different taxi services operate more than 1,000 cars in Bratislava. There are an additional 100 or so drivers not registered with any company who work independently under regular licenses.
Taxis bearing a rooftop "taxi" sign and marked with a company logo are more trustworthy than those without logos. The large taxi services tend to be cheaper than the services offered directly at hotels.
All taxi services have different fare tariffs: lower (from0,40 € to 0,60 € a kilometre) if ordered by telephone, or higher (from 0,60 € to 0,83 € a kilometre) if hailed down on the street or found at one of the several taxi ranks located around the city. The taximeter generally displays both the type of fare and the total fare for the journey. If you hail a taxi on the street, don't be afraid to negotiate the fare in advance.
Sometimes the taxi services have a fixed minimum fare per trip of 3,32€. During certain times of the year, such as Christmas or New Year, special rates over the basic rates may be charged.
The wait for a taxi ordered by phone is generally less than 10 minutes within the outer centre zone of Bratislava.
