Opening concert of the Konvergencie festival will be the celebration of 10th birthday of the festival as well as a rememberance of Haydn and Mendelssohn. Rareness of the evening will be emphasized by presence of outstanding British cellist, the friend of Konvergencie festival, Robert Cohen and premiere of new piece by Jevgenij Iršai composed for Jozef Lupták.

Konvergencie festival will remember the 20th anniversary of Velvet revolution by a suggestive monodrama of András Visky, Romanian author of Hungarian origin. The plot is inspired by the story of author’s mother, wife of persecuted priest, who survived the inferno of gulag with her children. Strong artist and emotional experience with music of Dmitri Shostakovich, Alfred Schnittke and Arvo Pärt. This work has become The Book of the Year in Hungary. Play will be performed in English language (Slovak translation available)

Bratislavská night of chamber music will be this year dedicated to works of authors linked with Central European region. There will be played compositions of Bratislava natives Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Ernő Dohnányi, music of visionarist Gustav Mahler and works of classical Czech authors of 20th century Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů. Fascinating trip through three centuries – from classicism through romanticism to modernism. Night of excellent music, outstanding performers, electrifying atmosphere and superb wine!

Jazz, improvization and spirituality. „World downside up“ is a meeting of excellent Italian musicians lead by American trumpetist Kyle Gregory. Their music expresses conviction that the world still offers beatuiful things which is stronger in quietude than noise arround us. Eight compositions are inspired by eight biblical blessings.

Project ROMARIA, umrelled by prestigious label ECM, was described by British magazine Gramophone as „silent dialogue between musicians, cultures and epochs – past, present and future“. Topic of meditation of four musicians, where also belongs Slovak violinist Miloš Valent, are works from medieval times to present days. The Dowland Project brings original and suggestive sight upon Gregorian melodies, old love songs, motets and other works of old masters. This concert will be one of the top events of the year!
