Press conference of The Summer of Culture Festival Bratislava 2007

Bratislava Cultural Summer enters into its 32nd anniversary offering 195 events which have been divided into 25 cycles and festivals, 9 of which are new one. Artists from 19 countries will present themselves at the artistic scenes throughout Bratislava City.

Making up dramaturgy of three months Marathon of Cultural Events, the dramaturgy has tried to address visitors of all age groups, from families with children, young people, adults, as well as seniors, we have prepared programs for lovers of different musical styles from jazz, folk, country, world and ethno music up to serious music, as well as dramatic performances for children and for adults.

Aim of the strong and lively festival program during the opening week is to attract and to take into sub-consciousness both of citizens, as well as visitors of Bratislava City, possibility to see during next three months a great number of valuable cultural events of different artistic genres.

Besides, organizers of the Cultural Summer decided that also in this year will be integrated Bratislava Castle into the cultural life of Bratislava City. Castle premises are natural place of the supra-city character and are becoming more and more destination place of national, as well as international visitors.

Except traditional, verified and according to spectators successful programs from the last years, in this year we have prepared for visitors 9 new festivals and cycles, as follows:

New festivals:
Festival presented by military bands and performances presented by honour guards
Festival VIVA MUSICA that is after one year break returning back again with stunning program into the place of Main Square and courtyard of Old Town Hall.
Festival Cultural Summer for Minorities, during which will be presented folklore of minorities living in Slovakia
Festival country, world & ethno and Romany music, that will be placed to zone reserved for citizens of Bratislava to have a rest – area at Partisan's meadow.

New cycles:
Cycle Theatre at Town Hall – presentation of performances conducted by amateur, semi-professional, as well as by professional theatres from Slovakia – indirectly is linked up to last year Theatre Week;
Cycle Chamber Concerts – new element of this year Cultural Summer, programs are situated into the premises of Summer House in Hviezdoslav Square
Cycle šansón.sk – šanson.cz will present well known interpreters of this genre from Czech Republic and from Slovakia in the restored garden of Liszt's pavilion at University Library in Bratislava
Cycle Afternoons at Red Crayfish – concerts, and/or literary-music programs in another one, in the centre of Bratislava reconstructed and renewed facilities.
Cycle Bratislava Proms – after the fashion of London's concerts we have accepted an offer submitted by colleagues of us from Prague to organize this project for the first time here in Slovakia, as well. Protagonists of high quality should warrant a positive response from public auditorium, as well as a high visit rate.

Advance sale of the admission tickets for performances within the frame of Cultural Summer and Castle Festival Bratislava will be secured in point of sale at Tourist and Information Centre BKIS in Klobučnícka Street, on the web site Ticketportal, by Dr. Horák and, 1 hour before program start on the spot.
