The folklore ensemble Dolina was founded in 1987 and belongs now to the Bratislava Culture and Information Centre. It is a civil interest association in the field of folk dancing, singing and music intended for children and the youth. The ensemble develops their interest in our folk culture, the basics of motion culture and revives the Slovak folk traditions by means of interesting choreography.
In 2004, the ensemble consisted of 70 regular members attending trainings under the professional direction. They devote themselves mainly to dancing technique, choreography practice, expressing music by means of dancing and in this way they develop their aesthetic feeling and perception. The dancers are divided into two groups - the younger (6 to 12 years old) and the older ones (12 to 18 years old). In addition to the regular trainings and performances, the ensemble works together with the Association of the children´s folk ensembles of Bratislava on the organization of the International festival of children´s folk ensembles in which it also takes part as a performer. The ensemble prepares yearly the exhibition of photographs and documentation of the previous years.
In 2004, the folk ensemble Dolina presented its work as many as 40 times in Slovakia and 3 times abroad (Italy, Czech Republic). In the first half year 2005, the ensemble gave 15 performances.
